Physical Design and Physical Design Automation

This lecture provides students with the knowledge and practice in Computer Aided Design (CAD) of electronic assemblies (electronic circuits, hybrid electronic systems and Printed Circuit Boards). The detailed consideration for the individual design steps and the design constraints are the main focus in this course. Students can acquire the necessary practical design skills by using a CAD tool.

Organization of the course (2/1/0)

1.    Introduction to CAD-systems

2.    Expressions and concepts of CAD

3.    Design steps
3.1  Design using high level languages
3.2  Design using schematic diagrams
3.3  Physical design
3.4  Verification

4.    Library concepts

5.    Interfaces

6.    Physical design constraints
