Electronic Design

The research in the area of electronic design is concentrated on various aspects of electronic systems design and design automation. Topics include design and packaging of (micro-)electronic systems with a high packing and wiring density requiring particular consideration of the electrical, thermal, and reliability constraints.

Main Focus

  • Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

  • New Design Methodologies for Nanostructures

    • 3D design algorithms and 3D modeling of nanostructures

    • Thermal management using nano devices

  • Thermal Design

    • Modeling of thermal, thermomechanical, and electromechanical relations

    • Thermal characterization and measurement techniques

    • Design of power dissipation devices

  • Design of Electronic Lighting Devices

    • Design of new lighting devices using semiconducting lighting sources (LEDs, laser)

    • Theoretical study of lighting solutions and the implementation of these solutions in illumination devices. Main focus is the distribution of light on the object and the heat dissipation

  • Integrated Circuits Design

    • Design of digital integrated circuits based on programmable logic

    • Development of algorithms for fast real-time processing of measurement data. Implementation using programmable logic

Laboratories

  • CAD/Computer laboratory

  • Heat measurement laboratory
